How can I convince my mother to stop using ear candles?
Ever since my mom got those things I was suspicious. I'm not exactly a master of the rules but I'm pretty sure " Don't stick a flaming stick of wax in your ear" is one of them. And when I saw the amount of wax I knew that there's no way that amount of wax could fit in any ones ear.I know that the purpose of wax is to stick to dust and other particles, and I've felt it and it's a hard sticky substance. A couple of minutes ago she finished one ear and I picked up a glob of " wax" from her candle and it felt soft and powdery. I told her that but she didn't listen, she just said " That's real wax" yeah, a terribly strong line of reasoning I know. my dad said " Not all wax has the same consistency" whatever the heck that's suppose to mean.I think she just thinks I'm an immature, paranoid teenager.Is there any way I could convince her at this point?
Has anyone used ear candles?
They're candles that you put in your ear, light it, and it lightly sucks all the wax and whatever else that shouldnt be in your ear out. I've never used them, but i've been told to coz i get alot of wax. Have you used them? Were they affective?Ear candles ARE a product that can be bought over the counter...i've used Waxsol, but i really dont like it, it's crap and it's spose to be the best there is... Ugh

Why do you continue to use ear candles?
According to people who sell them, ear candles work by creating a vacuum and drawing the wax out of the ear. If you get a vacuum measuring device and put a lit ear candle in it, you will find that they do not actually create a vacuum at all. I worry that a hairdresser is treating people with ear candles, that's a lawsuit waiting to happen Unlike many people who use candles, I do know how they are supposed to work. But unfortunately that mechanism is false, and they don't work in scientific studies. It is purely the power of placebo that makes people think they do work. As for the volume of wax that comes out, did you know that the wax drawn from the ear by the candles has been tested many times and is actually candle wax? Seriously, not joking.

Ok, someone told me about the benefits of ear candles, but I dont know much about them. Has anybody used them and were they beneficial? Where would I get them and what is the proper way to use them? Any information would be helpful and greatly appreciated. Thanks a bunch.

My ears seem to get " clogged" from time to time. Sometimes its sinus related and sometimes not. I heard something about ear candles. Has anyone ever tried using them?
